4 DAYS/3 NIGHTS
Featuring: visit of Desana and Asti for risotto and spumante tasting
May 1st, 2016 sailing on the Costa Pacifica from Savona
DAY 1 MILAN AIRPORT I BRA HOTEL
Upon your arrival you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel in the region of Piemonte. The balance of the day is at leisure for you to get acquainted with the area. Loosely translated, Piemonte means "at the foot of the mountains". Those mountains, the Alps, define the region and are visible in much of the region, most of which rises and rolls over fertile foothills that produce a bounty that is as rich as the region is green. Piemonte is a land of cheeses, truffles, plump fruit, and, of course, wine -- among which are some of Italy's most powerful, complex, and delicious reds, including Barolo and Barbaresco, lighter reds Barbera and Dolcetto, and Italy's top sparkling white, Asti Spumanti.

DAY 2 I BRA I LANGHE HILLS I BRA
Today we venture into the Langhe Hills. Halfway between the Alps and the Mediterranean, the Langhe hills are a unique and magical display, animated by an extraordinarily fertile nature and by food and wine traditions, which are renowned throughout the world. Here visitors discover valuable foods, ranging from the sought–after white truffle, to the numerous D.O.P. (Protected Designation of Origin) cheeses and wines like the Barolo, and the ‘Round Gentle’ hazelnuts, which form the basis for Gianduja chocolate. After lunch at a local restaurant enjoy a wine tasting session at a local winery. (B, L)

DAY 3 I BRA I DESANA I ASTI I BRA
Today's tour begins with a stop in Desana for a visit of a rice factory, where you will enjoy a tasting of different rice types and an explanation of why certain rice varieties make better risottos. Later, we continue on to the Medieval town of Asti. Famous for its sparkling Spumante wine, Asti is the principal town in one of the world’s most important wine–producing provinces, and point of reference in the development of new agricultural practices for Italy and Europe. (B,L)
